Facebook Social Ads – How to Opt Out

Facebook Social Ads – take your name off ads sent to your social circle
While there is no way to stop social ads featuring friends from appearing in the right sidebar of your Facebook page, it is possible to opt out of being featured in Facebook social ads yourself.
By simply “liking” a Facebook Brand page, a friend could see your “like” and possibly your profile picture in a paid advertisement on their sidebar, if the company you “like” purchases an advertisement. By default, you have “opted-in” to Facebook social ads. You can opt out by following these simple steps.
How to opt out of Social Ads
- Log into your Facebook ‘Account Settings’ in the menu on the top right.
- On the left sidebar menu choose ‘Facebook Ads’.
- Click on the ‘Edit social ads setting’. You can find it in the next section.
- Modify your preferences by clicking in the drop-down menu. Select ‘No one’. Click on ‘Save Changes’.
That’s it! You have just “opted out” of the social advertising system.
Facebook Sponsored Stories
Opting out of Social Ads will not stop Facebook sponsored stories from appearing in your news feed-or stop you from being featured in Sponsored Stories. Facebook is not allowing users to opt out of sponsored stories at this time.
