Recycle Your Wine Corks in Woodinville

Many of us here on the Bigfin team love a good bottle of wine, especially one of the delicious local Washington wines available over in Woodinville.

But what do you do with all the wine corks left over when you’re done enjoying your wine?

Wine Cork Recycling in Woodinville & Beyond

Woodinville is well-known for its many beautiful wineries, and you can also recycle your wine corks there. Gard Vintners, which has a popular tasting room in Woodinville, is one of many local wineries that participate in a natural cork recycling program through an initiative called ReCORK. The winery started participating in this initiative back in 2011, according to the Woodinville Patch.

ReCORK also has other public collection partners where you can drop off your wine corks throughout Washington State. You can find a wine cork repository near you by simply entering your ZIP code into the search box on ReCORK’s Find a Location page. Wine cork collection areas are available everywhere from Bainbridge Island to Bellevue to Walla Walla, WA.

About ReCORK

ReCORK describes itself as “North America’s largest wine cork recycling initiative” and is on a mission to keep cork out of landfills and educate the public of how ideal cork is for recycling. The idea behind ReCORK is to try to recycle, reuse and repurpose natural wine corks for other unique applications, such as footwear, furniture, flooring, sporting goods and other consumer products.

A secondary goal of the ReCORK initiative is to educate the public about the benefits of natural cork forests. ReCORK partners with tree-planting initiatives to plant thousands of cork oak trees.
