Could Twitter Become the Next Big Social Media Gaming Platform?

Fans of Facebook games such as Farmville and Candy Crush Saga now have a new option when it comes to social network gaming. Twitter recently released a new “mobile deep-linking” update to Twitter Cards. A Twitter Card refers to the additional information (text, photos, video, etc.) that sometimes appears when a URL is linked.
Twitter’s New Deep-Linking Feature
According to a recent article by TechCrunch, the new mobile deep-linking feature hopes to take Twitter Cards another step further and “get deeper … engagement into other apps you may have on your phone. This could be for shopping, taking a poll or just about any other interaction you can think of.” Deep-linking is a tech term that refers to “using a hyperlink that links to a specific, generally searchable or indexed, piece of web content on a website.”
The Future
Much like Facebook, Twitter hopes to capitalize on the multi-million dollar online mobile gaming market by incorporating it into their social experience. However, Twitter is still a newcomer and there are a few kinks that need to be fixed. Nevertheless, gaming on Twitter opens unique possibilities including the ability to engage with people who are not already your followers and to find games via hash tags that match your interests.
Do you think Twitter will be the next gaming giant?
