LinkedIn New Profile Design Unveiled

LinkedIn has updated its profile design for premium members of the professional networking service, the social network announced. The new design features more prominent profile photos and allows for large custom cover photos similar to what we see on Facebook and more recently with Twitter, which recently rolled out a design update of its own.
Premium, or paid, LinkedIn members can select a cover photo of their choice or choose from LinkedIn’s gallery of background images, giving their profile more visual pop, according to the LinkedIn Official Blog.
LinkedIn New Profile Features
The LinkedIn new profile design also makes it easier to connect with your professional network on LinkedIn, showcasing your connections on your LinkedIn profile pages with larger, more enticing photos, according to a sample profile LinkedIn shared. The sample profile also revealed an activity feed that shows your connections what you’ve been working on and reading lately in your industry. LinkedIn originally removed the activity feed as a standard user feature, but said last month that this feature is slowly being added back for all members, according to the LinkedIn Help Center.
LinkedIn also provides suggestions for optimizing your profile. The social network now provides a handy box suggesting that you add certain skill keywords to your profile that are personalized to your line of work, the LinkedIn blog noted.
In addition, the new profile features also allow premium members to set their profiles to Open. This setting allows potential connections outside your network to reach out to you to form a new professional relationship through LinkedIn for free. Finally, the new LinkedIn profile lets you see who’s visited your profile in the last 90 days so you can see who might be interested in your job skills.
The Takeaway
Business professionals who would like to make an impact on LinkedIn should consider the benefits of a LinkedIn premium membership in helping them brand themselves with more pizzazz. So far, only premium members enjoy the benefits of LinkedIn’s new profile design.
Beyond this, LinkedIn’s premium membership offers the perk of allowing members to show up more prominently when potential employers and hiring managers search for job titles and skills that match up with their profile. Premium users can also send direct messages (InMail) and see who’s viewed their profile, a feature that is greatly limited for free users.
